Shalby Hospital Mohali Unveils State-of-the-Art Neuro ICU

S.A.S.Nagar 1 November ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In view of the increasing number of stroke cases, Shalby Hospital Mohali has launched a dedicated Stroke Care Unit, fully committed to the treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery of stroke patients. The new facility underscores Shalby Hospital Mohali’s focus on advanced neuro emergency care and public awareness for stroke and related disorders. The Neuro ICU offers 24×7 monitoring, expert specialists, and integrated treatment under one roof. The launch was attended by Major General Vinod Kumar Bhatt (Retd.) as Chief Guest and Lt Gen Kuldip Singh (Retd.), along with senior doctors and hospital officials. Highlighting the need for awareness, Dr. Swati Garg, Director and Head, Neurology said that stroke is a medical emergency where every minute counts, and timely intervention can make the difference between full recovery and lifelong disability. She explained that sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, slurred speech, facial drooping, loss of balance, or blurred vision are some of the early warning signs of a stroke. Recognising these symptoms at the right time and reaching a well-equipped hospital within the crucial “golden window” can significantly improve the chances of recovery and prevent severe complications such as paralysis (adhrang). The dedicated Stroke Care Unit at Shalby Hospital ensures rapid diagnosis, expert treatment, and round-the-clock neurological support, leading to faster recovery and improved outcomes for patients. Dr. Rakesh Redhu, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery, emphasised that the hospital aims to provide seamless neuro care from the emergency department to surgery and rehabilitation.
