Chandigarh 8 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked the newly appointed constituency heads of the Istri Akali Dal to constitute their organizational structure, including booth level committees, to strengthen the party at the booth level. Holding the first meeting of constituency heads of the Istri Akali Dal along with Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal and women wing president Hargobind Kaur, the SAD president said the women wing should focus on strengthening its organizational structure. Sukhbir Badal said besides constituting booth committees and appointing booth presidents, the wing should also appoint its Circle presidents. He also talked about the significance of seamless coordination between different party wings as well as party halka incharges.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsimrat Badal said the party’s women wing was shaping up as a catalyst of change. “Women have been most affected by the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. They have witnessed the suffering in their houses due to curtailment of all social welfare schemes as well as the huge spike in drug overdose deaths and breakdown of the law and order situation in Punjab. They also realize that the AAP government is trying to whitewash its failure to do anything for the women folk by promising them an allowance of Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 (for scheduled caste women) per month. The AAP government created a hype that the allowance would start soon in March. Now it is June but even now only lists are being prepared. The government may try to sway women by giving an allowance for a few months but I want to tell them each of them should demand the Rs 60,000 per woman due to them since the last more than four years”.Istri Akali Dal president Hargobind Kaur spoke on how the women wing was preparing to expose the AAP government which had done nothing for the women folk during its more than four years in power. She said the women wing would initiate a protest movement soon to hold the AAP government accountable for adopting anti-Punjab and anti-women policies.
