Delegation of Joint Teachers Union and Punjab and Haryana Employees Welfare Association met the Governor of Punjab
Chandigarh 25 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A delegation of the Punjab and Haryana Employees Welfare Association, led by Ranbir Jhorar and Sushil Chahlia Patron, Ritu lakhanpal Core committee member, Jarnail Singh Core committee member met His Excellency the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh today to discuss critical issues affecting government employees. The delegation brought to the Governor's notice the long-standing issue of involvement of senior IAS officers from Punjab and Haryana cadre in major departments of public dealing. As Chandigarh is the joint capital of both states, it is essential to have representation from both cadres in key decision-making positions, as was the practice till 2017. The delegation requested the Governor to intervene and ensure that senior IAS officers from both Punjab and Haryana cadre are involved in major departments of public dealing. Furthermore, the delegation requested the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary, who is a senior IAS officer after the Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary, and Personnel Secretary. This committee would focus on framing policies regarding personnel matters, ensuring transparency, and addressing grievances of government employees. Delegation also requested to implement Punjab Government comments and objections sent by Punjab School education department in June 2024 after the approval of CM Punjab regarding no tenure , maintaining 60:40 ratio in new Recruitment rules and Seniority of deputationists according to length of service in Chandigarh Administration The Hon Governor assured the delegation that he would look into the matter and take necessary steps to resolve the issues.
