He also demanded Rs 50 crore to Rs 70 crores annual research grant for the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to improve the research facilities for better agriculture. National Conference to Focus on Women’s Hormonal Health and Obesity Chandigarh 6 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Endocrine Society of India (ESI) will organise a two-day national conference titled “WE CARE 2026 – Women Endocrine Care & ESI Obesity Week” on March 7 and 8 at Radisson . The conference will focus on women’s hormonal health and the growing concern of obesity and metabolic disorders in India. The event comes at a time when obesity is emerging as a major public health challenge. Data from the National Family Health Survey (2019–21) shows that nearly one-fourth of men and women in India are either overweight or obese, marking a four-percentage-point increase since 2015–16. The problem is particularly prominent among women in several states, including Delhi and Punjab.
