IIT ROPAR LAUNCHES NEW B.TECH. CURRICULUM FOR 2026 BATCH New framework gives students freedom to choose, research, and lead from day one Ropar/Chandigarh 3 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has revamped its undergraduate engineering curriculum, replacing a largely rigid course structure with a flexible, student-driven framework that will take effect from the academic session 2026-27. The institute says the change is designed to prepare engineers not just for jobs, but for research, entrepreneurship and leadership in a rapidly changing world. Under the new B.Tech. Curriculum 2026, students will complete most of their compulsory core courses by the end of the fifth semester. The remaining three semesters will be largely free for advanced electives, internships, research projects, startup work and interdisciplinary exploration. ਆਈਆਈਟੀ ਰੋਪੜ ਨੇ 2026 ਬੈਚ ਲਈ ਨਵਾਂ ਬੀ.ਟੈਕ. ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ ਲਾਂਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਢਾਂਚਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਚੁਣਨ, ਖੋਜ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਰੋਪੜ/ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ 3 ਜੂਨ ( ਰਣਜੀਤ ਧਾਲੀਵਾਲ ) : ਭਾਰਤੀ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਨ ਰੋਪੜ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਡਰਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਵਾਂ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਚੱਲੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਕਾਫੀ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਲਚਕਦਾਰ, ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ-ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਢਾਂਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ 2026-27 ਤੋਂ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਸੰਸਥਾਨ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ, ਬਲਕਿ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਦਲਦੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੋਜ, ਉੱਦਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਮਕਸਦ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਨਵੇਂ ਬੀ.ਟੈਕ. ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ 2026 ਤਹਿਤ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਮੂਲ ਕੋਰਸ ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਸਮੈਸਟਰ ਤੱਕ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਗੇ। ਬਾਕੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਮੈਸਟਰ ਮੁੱਖ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਉੱਨਤ ਵਿਕਲਪਿਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ, ਇੰਟਰਨਸ਼ਿਪ, ਖੋਜ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ, ਸਟਾਰਟਅੱਪ ਕੰਮ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਲਈ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ 30 ਕ੍ਰੈਡਿਟ ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਕਲਪਿਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਚੁਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂਲ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰਲੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਕੁੱਲ 160 ਕ੍ਰੈਡਿਟ ਦਾ ਹੈ।...
