Stronger enforcement, stakeholder collaboration essential to combat counterfeiting & smuggling: Special DGP, Punjab Jalandhar 12 June ( PDL ) : Amardeep Singh Rai, Special Director General of Police, Punjab while addressing a session on capacity building programme for police officers on ‘Tackling Counterfeiting and Smuggling: Strategies for Effective Enforcement’ at Police Academy ,  Phillaur on Friday stressed that illicit trade has emerged as a complex challenge with far-reaching economic and social consequences. The programme, which was organized by FICCI-CASCADE, brought together senior police officers, government officials, legal experts and industry representatives to deliberate on the growing threat posed by counterfeiting, smuggling and other forms of illicit trade. As per the approved proposal, the long-standing requirement of furnishing Bank Guarantee and Cash Security by applicants seeking licences has been abolished. ESI Organises Internship Training Programme, RTI Awareness Session and Lecture on Environmental Laws Chandigarh 12 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Environment Society of India (ESI), Chandigarh, is conducting an internship training programme for undergraduate and postgraduate students under the National Education Policy (NEP). The programme commenced on June 5 and will continue until mid-July 2027, providing students with 80 to 120 hours of practical training and field experience. Sharing details of the programme, environmentalist N.K. Jhingan, Secretary of ESI, said that a total of 15 interns from DAV College Chandigarh, Government Post Graduate College Sector-11 Chandigarh, Kurukshetra University, DAV College Karnal, and Chandigarh University, Gharuan, are participating in the programme.
