Zonal NRI Milni an Eyewash for Punjabi Diaspora, Says NAPA Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal Chandigarh 27 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A zonal meeting organised to address the issues and concerns of the NRI community has proved to be little more than an eyewash and has failed to provide meaningful relief to members of the Punjabi diaspora, particularly those who travel long distances with genuine grievances and return home empty-handed. This was stated by Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), in a press statement issued here today. Sharing his own experience of attending an NRI Milni, Chahal said that he himself had been a victim of alleged police inaction in Punjab. He said he had approached the then NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, and his complaint was registered with the NRI Sabha. ਖੈਰ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਟਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵਣ ਵਿਭਾਗ ’ਤੇ ਸਵਾਲ, ਜਾਂਚ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਐਸ.ਏ.ਐਸ.ਨਗਰ 29 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ ( ਰਣਜੀਤ ਧਾਲੀਵਾਲ ) : ਖੈਰ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਟਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਣ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ ’ਤੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਲਿਖਤੀ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਕੇ ਕਥਿਤ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਕਟਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਫੇਸ-2 ਵਿਖੇ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਕਾਨਫ੍ਰੈਂਸ ਦੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪਿੰਡ ਤਾਰਾਪੁਰ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਭੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਲ, ਰਾਮਜੀ ਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੈਰ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਟਾਈ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰੀਬ 325 ਦਰੱਖਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਵਣ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਕਥਿਤ ਕਟਾਈ ’ਤੇ ਢੁਕਵੀਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜੰਗਲਾਤ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰੇਂਜ ਆਫਿਸਰ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਵਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਫੋਰੈਸਟ ਆਫਿਸਰ DFO ਅਵਨੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲਿਖਤੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇਂਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਈ, ਉਲਟਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਾਈ ਫੋਰੈਸਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਟੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਕਮੈਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਰਪੰਚ ਰਾਜੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਕਮੇਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਗੁਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ, ਬਿਕਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿ...
