Livasa Hospital Amritsar launches stroke awareness initiative Amritsar 18 March ( PDL ) : Livasa Hospital Amritsar on Wednesday launched a stroke awareness initiative. The initiative was launched to spread awareness in public to understand the early warning signs of stroke and seek immediate medical attention, as every minute counts when it comes to saving brain function. Dr. Arshdeep Kaur Sethi, senior consultant-neurologist at Livasa said, “Stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability and death worldwide, yet timely recognition and treatment can significantly improve survival and recovery outcomes.” She further said that common warning signs include sudden weakness or numbness in the face, arm, or leg, difficulty speaking, confusion, loss of balance, severe headache, or blurred vision. On evaluation, doctors discovered that her heart was beating abnormally slowly (25-30 bpm) due to a malfunction of the heart’s natural electrical system — a condition known as ‘severe bradycardia’. He said,” In India, chronic kidney disease affects nearly 15-17% of the adult population – over 200 million people – with Punjab reporting even steeper rates of 20-25% in urban and rural pockets, per recent Indian Society of Nephrology data. Medical Workers performed their duties Wearing Black Ribbons at the Call of the NHM Employees Union: Symbolic Protest was Held against the Department in Support of their Demands Chandigarh 10 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Today, on the call of the Chandigarh NHM Employees Union, all NHM employees — Emergency Medical Officers, Ayurvedic Medical Officers, Nursing Officers, Pharmacy Officers, LHVs, ANMs, Lab Technicians, Data Entry Operators, Supervisors of the TB Department, Lab Supervisors, TBHV staff, 112 Drivers & Emergency medical technicians (EMT) , Class-4 employees and other staff members — joined together and wore black ribbons while performing their routine duties.
