Chandigarh 24 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : During the meeting of the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), significant decisions were taken under the framework of Ease of Doing Business, offering major relief to the business community. Now, shops have been exempted from obtaining pollution-related permissions (Consent to Establish/Consent to Operate), and in case of any violations, criminal proceedings will no longer be initiated; only monetary penalties will apply. Avi Bhasin, President of Laghu Udyog Bharti Chandigarh, stated This decision is like a breath of relief for the business community of Chandigarh. Small entrepreneurs will no longer have to live in unnecessary legal fear. We sincerely thank the Chandigarh Administration and the Pollution Control Department for taking this bold and welcome step under the Ease of Doing Business initiative. He further appealed that similar practical relaxations should be extended to fire safety norms as well, so that trade and industry in the city can grow more smoothly. The meeting was attended on behalf of Laghu Udyog Bharti by Vice President Akshay Chug, who also expressed gratitude to the administration and stated This decision will certainly strengthen the confidence of entrepreneurs in Chandigarh.
