Health Department agreed to retain the employees
Expressed gratitude to the nodal officer and shared sweets
Chandigarh 1 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In 2019, the Health Department ,National Health Mission (NHM), Chandigarh, had issued termination orders for Data Entry Operators and Data Processing Assistants working under the department, citing rejection of the posts by the Government of India. In response, the affected employees filed a petition in the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, which granted interim relief by ordering that the employees remain in service until a final verdict was delivered. Union President Babita Rawat stated that the court’s decision indicates that the department responded with a sympathetic viewpoint, stating that as long as the Government of India continues to provide approval and grants for the NHM Chandigarh project, there would be no objection in continuing the services of these employees. The union and all employees appreciated this positive step by the department, creating a joyous atmosphere among the workers and their families. Today, the employees met with the Nodal Officer, Dr. Charu, to express their gratitude and shared sweets with her as a gesture of thanks. On July 31, 2025, the Hon’ble High Court disposed of the cases of all 12 Data Entry Operators and 2 Data Processing Assistants with a verdict that their employment under the National Health Mission is to remain protected. Amit Kumar, General Secretary, stated that the major contributors in this case were mentor Mr. Bipin Sher Singh, Chairman of the All Contract karamchari Sangh, & advisory members Advocate Bhupinder Singh Gill and Advocate Vikas Singh. Employees are now optimistic that no one will be harassed without valid cause in the future.
