Malegaon Verdict Has Exposed Congress’s ‘Hindu Terror’ Fabrication : Tarun Chugh
Chandigarh/Delhi 1August ( PDL ) : BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said today that the recent Malegaon verdict has ripped apart a long-standing political conspiracy crafted by the Congress to defame Hindus, tarnish Sanatan Dharma, and falsely criminalise nationalist organisations like the RSS. Speaking on the matter, Chugh referred to the court’s decision acquitting all the accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case and said that it confirms what the BJP has always maintained — that there was no such thing as Hindu terror, and the term itself was manufactured with malice and political intent. Chugh referred to former ATS officer Mehboob Mujawar’s statement, in which he revealed that there was direct pressure from top officials under the Congress government to arrest RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat in connection with the case, despite the absence of any evidence or mention in the chargesheet. He said this revelation points to how deep the interference ran and how investigative agencies were misused to build a narrative tailored to the political objectives of the Gandhi family. He further recalled Rahul Gandhi’s old conversation with the former US Ambassador, where Gandhi allegedly remarked that Hindu extremists were a bigger threat than Lashkar-e-Taiba. Chugh said that such comments weren’t isolated or casual — they reflected a carefully cultivated mindset within Congress to equate India’s civilisational and cultural identity with extremism. He said the term ‘saffron terror’ was not a slip of the tongue but a deliberate phrase coined and repeated by senior Congress leaders like P. Chidambaram and Sushilkumar Shinde, under direction from the party high command. Tarun Chugh noted that during the UPA era, while Pakistani-backed terrorists were carrying out bombings in major Indian cities, the Congress was working to shift focus away from cross-border terrorism and towards vilifying Hindu saints, Army officers, and RSS karyakartas. He said that figures like Sadhvi Pragya and Col. Purohit were targeted not because of evidence, but because they symbolised a cultural identity that Congress was politically uncomfortable with. He added that saints and soldiers were jailed, tortured, and humiliated to satisfy a political narrative that had no legal or factual basis. He referred to the Samjhauta Express case, where Pakistani nationals and SIMI operatives had reportedly confessed to the attack but were released shortly after, allegedly to preserve the “Hindu terror” storyline. In the Ishrat Jahan case as well, Chugh said that official affidavits were manipulated under then Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s oversight, and references to her Lashkar links were deliberately removed. He said that these actions show a clear pattern of institutional abuse driven by political motivations. Chugh also responded to the recent remarks made by Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan, who repeated the claim that “terror has no religion” but also suggested terms like “Hindu terrorism” or “Sanatani terrorism.” Chugh said this contradiction is typical of Congress’s appeasement strategy — publicly claiming neutrality while privately advancing narratives that paint Sanatan Dharma in a negative light. He said the Congress leadership has repeatedly used such double-speak to maintain favour with its core vote bank while alienating the country’s majority community. Chugh pointed to the repeated glorification of controversial figures like Zakir Naik by senior Congress leaders, including Digvijaya Singh, who referred to Naik as an “Apostle of Peace,” and highlighted how Naik-linked NGOs made donations to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. He said these links further expose the ideological tilt of the Congress leadership and its consistent attempts to whitewash radical elements while vilifying domestic cultural institutions. Tarun Chugh said that for 17 years, those accused in the Malegaon case suffered enormous personal, social, and legal consequences. The Congress leadership not only dragged them through courts but weaponised the case to malign an entire community, faith, and nationalist tradition. This was done with the active support and consent of the Congress high command, which must now be held to account. He said that Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, P. Chidambaram, and Digvijaya Singh cannot evade responsibility for what transpired. He stated that the BJP demands a public apology from the Congress leadership for branding an entire faith tradition as terrorist and for manipulating the country’s institutions to serve political ends. He added that appropriate compensation should be given to all those acquitted and legal action must be considered against those who were involved in their wrongful detention and torture.
