Actor Shefali Shah Graces CineMaestro – Shaping Future Filmmakers: Film Festival & Awards | Take 7 at Chitkara International School

Chandigarh 6 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Chitkara International School (CIS), Chandigarh, was transformed into a radiant hub of creativity and cinematic splendour as it hosted CineMaestro – Shaping Future Filmmakers: Film Festival & Awards | Take 7, powered by Chitkara University and organised in association with Cinevidya. The school’s auditorium sparkled with red-carpet glamour, eager anticipation, and the vibrant energy of aspiring filmmakers, setting the stage for a day of inspiration, artistry, and storytelling excellence. The festival was elevated by the presence of Shefali Shah, acclaimed actor and cultural icon, whose eloquent reflections on imagination, perseverance, and the power of storytelling captivated both students and guests alike. Her presence seamlessly embodied the festival’s spirit, bridging the magic of cinema with the aspirations of young visionaries. Complementing her was Amitabha Singh, eminent cinematographer and Founder of Cinevidya, who spoke passionately about cinema as a transformative medium—one that empowers learners to imagine boldly, create fearlessly, and explore narratives that matter. Together, they infused the day with inspiration, prestige, and an unmistakable aura of excellence.

This edition of CineMaestro featured 20 exceptional student films from other schools and CIS, spanning a remarkable array of themes. The films explored the spectrum of human experience—from resilience, self-discovery, and courage, to empathy, friendship, and the quest for identity. Works such as One Hope, Silent Storms, The Detention Files, and Misfit delved into emotional and psychological journeys, addressing mental health, bullying, and hidden struggles. Films like Parvaaz: Rising from Stranger to Star, Just a Hand Away, and Ankahe Dhaage highlighted the transformative power of compassion, self-expression, and human connection, while socially conscious narratives such as AAJ KI TAAZA KHABAR, Rank versus Zindagi, and 23-12 tackled systemic pressures, societal expectations, and the urgent need for empathy and justice. Films like Alone Together, The Sparky, and Vartmaan Ka Dhokha brought fresh perspectives, exploring themes of isolation, youthful curiosity, and contemporary dilemmas. Each story, rich in imagination and technical finesse, reflected the students’ keen observation of the world around them and their desire to create meaningful impact. What is particularly striking is how Gen Z and Alpha filmmakers are using cinema as both a mirror and a lens—reflecting their own experiences while imagining new possibilities. Their films reveal an innate ability to address complex social and emotional themes with authenticity, humour, and sensitivity. From exploring neurodiversity in Misfit, to capturing the nuances of friendship and nostalgia in Ankahe Dhaage, these young creators are not only honing their storytelling skills but also articulating their worldview, ambitions, and concerns. Their narratives deftly weave social issues, personal growth, and ethical dilemmas, showcasing a generation of storytellers who are bold, inquisitive, and deeply attuned to the pulse of contemporary society. The short films were presented to an enthusiastic audience, alongside the active participation of Mass Communication and Department of Education students from Chitkara University, who contributed to the seamless orchestration of the event. Their involvement showcased Chitkara’s holistic approach to learning, blending creativity, collaboration, and practical experience to prepare students for a future in the arts and media. Reflecting on the success of the event, Dr Niyati Chitkara, Vice President – Chitkara International Schools, remarked: "CineMaestro celebrates imagination, innovation, and the extraordinary potential of our students. By providing them opportunities to learn from luminaries like Shefali Shah and Amitabha Singh, we empower them to become the storytellers and visionaries of tomorrow." The day culminated in a prestigious awards ceremony recognising excellence across categories including Best Director, Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound Design, Best Actor, Best Screenwriting, amongst many more. Awardees received exquisitely crafted trophies, certificates of appreciation, and curated gifts, honouring their dedication, creativity, and artistic brilliance. Beyond awards and accolades, CineMaestro – Take 7 served as a vibrant platform where young minds discovered the power of collaboration, critical thinking, and creative expression. It offered a unique opportunity for students to witness the intersection of education, mentorship, and industry expertise, reinforcing Chitkara International School’s commitment to shaping holistic, future-ready learners. CineMaestro – Take 7 concluded in resplendent grandeur, reaffirming Chitkara International School’s dedication to nurturing creativity, empowering young visionaries, and providing an unparalleled platform where imagination, mentorship, and opportunity converge.
