CU Punjab Students Gain Real-World Judicial Insights during special lecture by Kapil Dev Kachhi, Judge, District Court, Sindhi, MP

Bathinda 22 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CU Punjab), hosted an enlightening Guest Lecture by Kapil Dev Kachhi, Judicial Magistrate First Class, District Sidhi (Madhya Pradesh), at the Seminar Hall, Academic Block. The event was jointly organized by the School of Legal Studies and the NSS Cell, under the guidance of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Raghavendra P. Tiwari. A large number of students, faculty members, and research scholars from various departments attended the lecture. The session commenced with a symbolic green welcome through plant watering, signifying sustainability and growth. Dr. Veer Mayank, Associate Professor, Department of Law, conducted the proceedings and welcomed the dignitaries and participants. Dr. Puneet Pathak, Head, Department of Law, delivered the Welcome Address, extending a warm greeting to the Chief Guest and participants. Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Kumar Chauhan, Dean, School of Legal Studies, introduced the guest and shared highlights of his distinguished academic and professional journey. He lauded Sh. Kachhi’s perseverance, discipline, and achievements as a powerful source of inspiration for the student community. He encouraged students to emulate his dedication and proactive approach to academic and professional growth. The guest lecture was uniquely designed around the theme “Chosen by the Audience”, which allowed students to actively participate in determining the direction of the discussion. This student-centric approach reflected CUPB’s commitment to fostering participatory and experiential learning. It also resonated with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes learner autonomy, flexibility, and critical thinking. By placing students at the centre of the discussion, the university demonstrated its dedication to nurturing creativity, curiosity, and holistic development. During his lecture, Kapil Dev Kachhi shared valuable insights from his judicial experiences, interspersed with real-life examples from his career. He spoke about the importance of ethical judgment, critical thinking, and resilience in the practice of law. He urged students to remain focused and disciplined in their studies, emphasizing that determination and consistency are the true foundations of success. Recounting his own journey from a student to a judicial officer, he candidly discussed the challenges he faced and the perseverance that guided his progress. His engaging delivery and practical wisdom inspired students to remain steadfast in their aspirations. The interactive session that followed saw students actively engaging with the guest, who answered their questions with thoughtful clarity and encouragement. In his presidential address, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Raghavendra P. Tiwari commended the School of Legal Studies for organizing such an insightful academic event. He praised the speaker’s spirit of lifelong learning and urged students to draw inspiration from his journey of determination and purpose. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the value of experiential learning and the need for students to develop a strong ethical and intellectual foundation. The event concluded with the presentation of a token of gratitude to the guest, followed by a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur, Associate Professor, Department of Law. The session ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, marking the conclusion of an intellectually enriching event that reinforced CUPB’s commitment to academic excellence, student engagement, and professional ethics.
