Chandigarh 3 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Dussehra has always been a festival of excitement and joy for everyone, young and old. In every street, neighborhood, and colony, young hands are eager to spread the message of the victory of good over evil. Similarly, some young friends from Sector 46, after several days of hard work, prepared the effigy of Ravana, which was burnt on Friday evening. There was considerable enthusiasm among the youth and children of the neighborhood regarding the preparation and burning of Ravana's effigy. Young members of the Youth Dussehra Committee of Sector 46, Chandigarh, including Ridham Aditya, Ekam, Vaibhav, Samdarsh, Sanchay, Gursharan, Samarth, and Vriddhi, said that since childhood, they have been preparing effigies of Ravana and burning them in the neighborhood on Dussehra. When they first started making Ravana effigies in their childhood, their effigies were usually small in height. As we grew up, the height of Ravana also increased. Today, the effigies they prepare are over 25 feet tall. To burn Ravana on Dussehra, all those friends together collect money and materials. After this, they buy paper, firecrackers etc. After this, after two-three days of hard work, they prepared an effigy of Ravana about 25 feet long. On Friday evening, along with other children of the locality, the effigy of Ravana was burnt. Other children of the locality are also coming to see the effigy prepared by them. They told that in this work they are getting mutual support from their parents and the people of the locality. They told that their family members are overwhelmed by seeing their faith in religion, culture and values. He said that Dussehra gives us the message of religion, justice and victory of truth over falsehood. Burning of the effigy of Ravana symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
