Chandigarh 6 December ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today alleged that while the Bharatiya Janata Party was threatening the great and glorious legacy of Dr Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar across the country, the Aam Aadmi Party was undermining it in Punjab. Paying glowing tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution on his 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas (death anniversary), here today, he said, only the Congress was committed to his teachings and legacy.
Warring paid floral tributes to the Bharat Ratna in the morning at his statue at the Ambedkar Bhawan here today. The PCC president pointed out how the BJP was seeking to change the same constitution bequeathed to the country by Baba Saheb Ambedkar. He said, it was the strong resistance put up by the Congress and its leadership including Rahul Gandhi, which had prevented the BJP from changing the constitution.“Whether in power or out of it, the Congress has always not only cherished and followed the teachings and legacy of Baba Saheb, but has guarded it against the forces inimical to his teachings”, he said, while asserting that the Congress will always follow and preach the teachings of Baba Saheb. Warring also took a dig at the ruling AAP in Punjab for its “lip service” to the ideals and teachings of Baba Saheb. He said the AAP by displaying Baba Saheb’s portraits in its office was trying to show how much it respected the great leader, while on the ground it was doing quite contrary to what he taught and preached. He said, like the BJP was misusing and abusing the constitution at the centre, the AAP was doing the same thing in Punjab. He pointed out how the AAP government was misusing the official machinery and police in the ongoing Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections. “Followers of Baba Saheb Ambedkar will never do that as it undermines the very constitution he has given us”, Warring added.
