Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty Pays Surprise Visit to Kasauli Water Works
Chandigarh 7 December ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Senior Deputy Mayor of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, Shri Jasbir Singh Bunty, paid a surprise visit to the Kasauli Water Works today. He inspected the machinery and operational arrangements in Phase-3 and Phase-4 in detail. During the inspection, he also noticed a large amount of Municipal Corporation scrap lying outside the premises, which needs immediate attention.
Corporation staff informed him that Phase-1 and Phase-2 are operated by Punjab staff, while Phase-3 and Phase-4 are managed by employees of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. Water from Phase-3 and Phase-4 is directly supplied to the Sector-39 Water Works. They also mentioned that all four phases were installed between the years 1983 and 2004. Staff further informed that the machinery installed here runs continuously and stops only in case of a power outage. Since the facility is connected to an HT line, electricity supply interruptions are very rare.
After the inspection, Senior Deputy Mayor Banti stated that although the machinery is functioning properly, it has become quite old and requires timely and adequate maintenance. He further emphasized the urgent need to replace the 66 kV and 11 kV transformers, the HT-LT panels, and the old pipeline of Phase-3 and Phase-4 that carries water to Chandigarh, to ensure a continuous supply of clean water to the city. He also stressed that to avoid any disruption in water supply during emergency power failures, it is essential to install a reliable generator backup at the facility.
