Modi Govt’s India–US Trade Deal Threatens Punjab’s Farmers, Dairy Sector and Small Industries : Balbir Singh Sidhu Chandigarh 6 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Senior Congress leader from Punjab and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today slammed the Modi government over the proposed India–US trade deal, calling it a serious threat to Punjab’s farming economy, dairy sector and small industries. Balbir Singh Sidhu said Punjab’s farmers are already under immense pressure due to rising costs and falling incomes, and opening Indian markets to subsidised U.S. agricultural imports will further depress crop prices and harm small and marginal farmers. He warned that such policies favour big corporations while ignoring ground realities in agrarian states like Punjab. 72-year-old Ashok Ghai dedicates his 3 books to readers Released by Dr. Kuldeep Agnihotri, Executive Chairman of Haryana Sahitya Evam Sanskriti Academy Chandigarh 6 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Author Ashok Ghai unveiled his three books – "Bhav-Vividh," "Mauj-e-Ehsaas," and "Man Parchhauniyan" – at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18 on Friday. These are Ashok Ghai's first three works, and he is quite excited about their launch. Inspired by this, he is now ready to write more books. The books were released by Dr. Kuldeep Agnihotri, Executive Chairman of the Haryana Sahitya Evam Sanskriti Academy and former Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Central University. Centre Releases Over ₹1,133 Crores as XV FC Grants to Strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Telangana Chandigarh 6 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Union Government has released over ₹1,133 crores as Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV FC) grants during FY 2025–26 to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) / Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Telangana. In Madhya Pradesh, an amount of ₹65,255 lakhs (₹652.55 crores) has been released as the second instalment of Untied Grants for FY 2024–25. The funds will benefit all 52 eligible District Panchayats, 312 eligible Block Panchayats and 23,001 eligible Gram Panchayats in the State. Additionally, ₹77 lakhs representing the withheld portion of the first instalment of Untied Grants for FY 2024–25, has also been released to 3 additionally eligible Block Panchayats and 6 Gram Panchayats. RBI Chandigarh organised two-day NAMCABS workshop for bankers in Gurugram, Haryana Gurugram 6 February ( PDL ) : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Chandigarh organised a two-day National Mission on Capacity Building of Bankers for Financing MSMEs (NAMCABS) workshop during February 05-06, 2026 at Gurugram, Haryana. The workshop was inaugurated by Vivek Srivastava, Regional Director, RBI Chandigarh in presence of Pankaj Setiya, General Manager, RBI, Sanjeev Kumar Dhupar, Chairman, Haryana Gramin Bank and senior officials from other banks. The workshop was attended by about 72 bankers handling MSME lending from 15 different banks across the districts of Charkhi Dadri, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Jhajjar, Gurugram and Nuh from Haryana.
