RBI Chandigarh organised two-day NAMCABS workshop for bankers in Gurugram, Haryana
Gurugram 6 February ( PDL ) : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Chandigarh organised a two-day National Mission on Capacity Building of Bankers for Financing MSMEs (NAMCABS) workshop during February 05-06, 2026 at Gurugram, Haryana. The workshop was inaugurated by Vivek Srivastava, Regional Director, RBI Chandigarh in presence of Pankaj Setiya, General Manager, RBI, Sanjeev Kumar Dhupar, Chairman, Haryana Gramin Bank and senior officials from other banks. The workshop was attended by about 72 bankers handling MSME lending from 15 different banks across the districts of Charkhi Dadri, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Jhajjar, Gurugram and Nuh from Haryana.
During the keynote address, Regional Director underlined the crucial role of banks and financial institutions in facilitating MSME growth and employment generation. He emphasized that, “MSMEs are the backbone of the Indian economy, and banks must adopt a more sensitive and empathetic approach towards entrepreneurs. At this time of changing global headwinds, empowering MSMEs to champion local products under ‘Make in India’ mission will keep economy robust and self-reliant”.Welcoming the participants, Pankaj Setiya, GM, RBI described the workshop as an opportunity for participants to update themselves on best practices, policy guidelines, and innovative approaches to MSME financing. He called upon bankers to adopt a more responsive and entrepreneur-friendly approach, particularly in the current global environment where strengthening local manufacturing is vital for achieving goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Technical sessions during the two days were conducted by subject-matter experts from RBI, CGTMSE Mumbai, MSME DFO, TransUnion CIBIL, and experienced faculty from commercial banks. The sessions covered practical aspects of MSME credit assessment, risk mitigation, fintech solutions, and regulatory updates. Bankers enthusiastically participated in the workshop, appreciating the RBI’s initiative in organizing this programme and conveyed that the knowledge gained will enhance their ability to support viable MSME units more effectively on the ground. The NAMCABS workshop is being seen as a significant effort to equip bankers with practical insights and tools required to nurture entrepreneurship, expand access to formal finance, and drive sustainable growth of the MSME sector.
