Trailblazing Book by Amarjit Singh on the Martyrs of the Hardinge Bomb Outrage Released

Chandigarh 6 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A significant new historical work titled "Revolutionaries and The Brush Raj: Mortys of The Hardinge Bonch Outrage" authored by renovated historion De Amarjit Singh, superannuated Professor from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra released today at the Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27, Chandigarh. The book was formally released by distinguished dignitaries including Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh (Punjab), Prof. S. K. Gakhar, Vice-Chairpersoni, Haryana State Higher Education Council, Prof. Viney Kapoor Mehra, Former Vice-Chancellor, Dr R.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat, and Sardar Harpal Singh Gill, Director, Haryana Punjabi Sahitya & Sanskriti Academy. Amarjit Singh is widely recognised for his extensive contributions to nationalist historiography. His earlier works on Muslim politics and the Partition of Punjab, Politics of the Muslim League and the Partition of India, Banda Singh Bahadur and His Times, and Mahatma Gandhi and Indian nationalism are widely circulated at the global level. The newly released book is a fundmark contribution to the study of India's revolutionary freedom struggle. It offers in-depth insights into the organisational structures, ideological orientations, and historiographical nuances of the revolutionary movements in Punjab and Delhi during the early 20th century. Dr Singh sheds fresh light on the lives, motivations, and ultimate sacrifice of Master Amir Chand, Bhai Bal Mukund, Awadh Bihari, and Basant Kumar Biswas-revolutionaries executed in the wake of the Hardinge Bomb Outrage. Challenging conventional narratives. Dr Singh argues that these revolutionaries were not advocating for a sectarian Hindu Rashtra but were instead envisioning an independent, united India grounded in egalitarian and progressive ideals. The book abso brings to the fore previously unknown facts about the trials, prosecutions, and executions of these martyrs under the British rule. Moreover, the book explores the socio-economic backgrounds of the revolutionaries, positing this as a key factor in the strength and effectiveness of their movement. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor. Desh Bhagat University, extended heartfelt congratulations to the author for illuminating the lives of lesser-known revolutionary figures of India's freedom struggle. He remarked that while revolutionaries have played a pivotal role in shaping the course of the Indian national movement, their contributions have ones remained marginalised within mainstream historical discourse in this context, he lauded the author's endeavour as a commendable and much-needed intervention in the historiography of Indian nationalism. Prof. S. K. Gakhar, Prof. Viney Kapoor Mehra, and Sardar Harpal Singh Cill also conveyed their appreciation, observing that the work introduces a refreshing and critical perspective to the study of India's revolutionary past. They noted that the author's scholarship marks a significant step towards broadening and enriching the narrative of the Indian freedom movement, Prof. M. M. Goel, Former Vice-Chancellor of Startex University, Gurugram, described the book as a remarkable contribution to Indian historiography. He further remarked that the work redefines the contours of modern Indian historical writing and sets a new benchmark in the study of revolutionary movements in colonial India. The book release event was attended by a galaxy of eminent scholars and historians, including Prof. Bhagwan Singh Chaudhary, Former Registrar, Kurukshetra University: Prof. Manohar Lal Sharma, Former Director, Gandhian Studies, Panjab University. Chandigarh: Prof Muhammed Idris, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Manmohan Kumar, Former Dean of Social Sciences, M.D. University, Rohtak, and others. The function drew a large audience of faculty members, research scholars, and students from universities and colleges across Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh. Members of the print and electronic media were also present in significant numbers. The event was conducted by Dr Suman Siwach. Dr Dharamveer Saini formally met the dignitaries and other guests, and Mr Tapan Girdhar proposed a vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
