SAWA to Address SC/ST Employees’ Issues in SBI; SEVO Extends Unconditional Support
Chandigarh 28 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The SC/ST SBI All Employees Welfare Association (SAWA) – Chandigarh Circle has been officially constituted to proactively address and highlight the issues concerning Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) employees within the State Bank of India, Chandigarh Circle. The association aims to present these matters before the higher authorities and work constructively toward their resolution. A meeting held under the chairmanship of Prem Singh, officiating President of SAWA, saw detailed discussions on various issues faced by SC/ST employees. Speaking to the media, Brij Lal, General Secretary of SAWA (Chandigarh Circle), stated that this organization has been established to serve as a platform for resolving workplace grievances of SC/ST employees while offering them moral and institutional support. In a strong gesture of solidarity, Darshan Singh Parocha, President of SEVO—a prominent organization working for SC/ST welfare—endorsed SAWA’s mission and announced unconditional support for its policies and objectives. Other SEVO office-bearers including Harvinder Kaur (Vice President), Sarish Kumar (Deputy General Secretary), and Sukhwinder Soni (Coordinator) also participated and expressed full cooperation. Brij Lal emphasized SAWA’s dedication to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and equal opportunities of SC/ST employees in line with the Constitution of India. He affirmed the association’s alignment with SBI’s business goals and national development objectives, and called upon SC/ST employees to play an active role in promoting customer service excellence, financial inclusion, and the bank’s growth. In a significant development, Brij Lal expressed gratitude to the Chandigarh Circle Management of SBI for approving the monthly subscription mandate through salary deduction. He said this administrative support would enable smooth functioning and sustainability of the association’s welfare initiatives. SAWA also urged for fair representation of SC/ST employees in staff welfare committees and other institutional forums in transparent and health manner.The association has plans to conduct specialized training programs tailored to empower SC/ST staff to contribute more effectively and grow into future leadership roles within the bank. Brij Lal further appealed to other like-minded organizations to join hands with SAWA in amplifying the collective voice of SC/ST employees and ensuring their issues are given the serious attention they deserve. Among those present at the meeting were Tikka Ram – Deputy General Secretary, Nishan Ghanaut – Executive Member, Sulesh Chand – Executive Member, Reena Kataria, Pradeep Gogia, and Rekha Dayal – Members, Rekha Dayal also participated in her capacity as Women’s Representative. The gathering concluded with a firm commitment to working in alignment with SBI’s inclusive policies while advocating for equitable development and representation of SC/ST employees across all levels.
