Chandigarh 9 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Today, women members of the social service organization Onkar Charitable Foundation celebrated the festival of Rakshabandhan with Safai workers on Saturday and presented them gifts and sweets. Senior Deputy Mayor of the Corporation Jasvir Singh Bunty during a program organized at the Community Center of Sector 42 and Women members of Onkar Charitable Foundation tied Rakhi on the wrists of male safai workers of the Municipal Corporation department.
The women safai workers said, "This is the first time someone has thought about us and honoured us by celebrating the festival with us. We are thankful to Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty and Onkar Charitable Foundation Chairman Ravindra Singh Billa for this honour and respect." Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty wished the Safai Mitras a happy Raksha Bandhan festival, a symbol of brother-sister love, and thanked them for making the city clean, beautiful and green today. He said that on this auspicious day, we should all take a pledge that we will always be ready to help and cooperate with each other. Ravinder Singh Billa congratulated all the citizens on the holy festival of Raksha Bandhan. He said that the holy festival of Rakhi is a festival of mutual love and harmony between brothers and sisters. Today it was celebrated with Safai Mitras. It was nice to celebrate the festival with them. With their cooperation, a cleanliness drive is being run in the city and due to their cooperation and dedication, the city has reached the second position today.
