Chandigarh 5 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The meeting of UT and MC Pensioners Association was held today on 5th September 2025 at Cheema Bhawan Sector 30 under the chairmanship of Pradhan Jathedar Ujaagar Singh Mohi. Before starting the meeting, tribute was paid to comrade Ram Asra and a heartfelt tribute was paid to the people martyred and the devastation caused by the floods in Punjab, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Kashmir. In the meeting, the anti-employee attitude of the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation officials was strongly condemned and it was alleged that the officials are continuously ignoring the problems of the pensioners. The medical bills of retired employees have been pending for years but hundreds of bills are kept pending by making excuses. Before privatization of electricity department, retirement benefits of employees who did VRS are being withheld and after going to CPDL, payments of retired employees are also being deliberately withheld. Despite provisional transfer, Chandigarh Administration is adopting a dictatorial attitude by forcing employees to go to court on every issue instead of retiring them on time and paying pensionary gratuity, GPF etc. Condemning the officers of Municipal Corporation, it was alleged that payments of pension, medical etc. of retired employees are being withheld for 2-3 years. General Secretary Suchha Singh, Vijay Singh, Harinder Prasad, Gurbaksh Ram, Hansraj, former head of UT Powerman Dhyan Singh and General Secretary of Federation of UT Employees and Workers Gopal Dutt Joshi addressed the meeting and warned that if payments of retired employees are not made soon, then a protest will be organized on 23rd September. A special resolution was passed in the meeting and a call was made to go to the flood affected camps and help them and the Central and State Government were requested to announce a relief package soon and rehabilitate the people with immediate effect.
