Chandigarh 24 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaaliwal ) : Tricity residents are in for a festive treat as preparations for Karwa Chauth and Navratri are in full swing. The festival edition of much awaited National Silk Expo has commenced at Himachal Bhawan, Sector-28B, Chandigarh, and will continue from 24 to 29 September. This six-day exhibition offers a unique blend of tradition, culture, and fashion under one roof. The Expo showcases the finest Bandhej from Rajasthan, Tant from Kolkata, Banarasi Silk, Kanjivaram, and other traditional Indian weaves. Visitors can explore silk and cotton sarees, kurtis, designer dresses, fashion jewelry, home linen, and ethnic wear. Women can shop for Karwa Chauth sarees, Navratri garba dresses, or other festive outfits—all in one place.
Jayesh Kumar, organizer of the Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samiti, explained that while most weavers are struggling to preserve their craft amid middlemen and growing market inequalities, the National Silk Expo provides them with a platform to reach customers directly and receive fair value for their labour. For customers, this means they have access to original, authentic, and high-quality products at reasonable prices. Furthermore, each purchase directly supports the livelihood of a weaver family. Over 250 master weavers and renowned designers from across the country are participating. Shoppers get the rare opportunity to purchase directly from the artisans, ensuring authenticity, quality, and unique designs.
Adding to the excitement, the Expo is offering up to 50% off on a wide range of products. Banarasi silk, Bengali Tant, Kanjivaram sarees, designer dresses, and fashion jewelry are all available at attractive prices, making festive shopping more joyful and affordable than ever. The National Silk Expo is more than just a shopping event—it is a celebration of culture and tradition. Visitors can experience the joy of festival shopping while discovering authentic Indian craftsmanship. This is the perfect opportunity to make Karwa Chauth and Navratri celebrations even more special. Don’t miss this chance—come and enjoy the vibrant shopping experience at the National Silk Expo! The exhibition will be open daily from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm with free entry.
