Chandigarh 16 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Thursday launched a sharp and unequivocal attack on the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government, denouncing its much-publicised industrialisation drive as a sham riddled with deception and hollow promises. Bajwa exposed the blatant duplicity of the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who, while courting industrialists in Bengaluru, presides over a government that has brazenly clawed back Rs 243.73 crore in grant-in-aid from the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC)—funds meant for the very infrastructure projects the government claims to champion. “On one hand, CM Mann is offering hollow promises to new investors, and on the other, his administration is actively dismantling the support system for the industries already operating in the state,” Bajwa said, condemning the move as “blatant hypocrisy” and a reflection of AAP’s misgovernance. Bajwa further questioned the government’s failure to roll out its long-promised new industrial policy, a commitment that has been repeatedly cited at various forums but never delivered. He accused the AAP of indulging in publicity stunts while ignoring the ground realities faced by entrepreneurs and manufacturers in Punjab. In a scathing rebuke of Punjab’s Industry and Power Minister Sanjeev Arora, Bajwa dismissed his recent claims about the state’s infrastructure as false and misleading, asserting that the government has “catastrophically failed” to create a conducive environment for businesses. “The truth is evident—businesses are leaving Punjab in search of better infrastructure, lower operational costs, and more supportive policies in other states. This is a direct result of the AAP government’s apathy and incompetence,” Bajwa said.
