Warring warns against divisive forces
Says, India’s strength lies in its diversity
Chandigarh October 14 ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Warning against the rise of sectarian and divisive forces in the country, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that India’s strength lies in its diversity and any attempt to weaken it will weaken the country. Addressing the delegate session of the Indian Union Muslim Youth League on the theme of ‘My Identity, My Pride’, in Agra today Warring asserted that India does not belong to anyone in particular, but to each and every citizen living in this country. He lauded the IUMYL for expressing a sense of pride about its identity. He said, this is the beauty of the diversity of this country that people belonging to different religions whether Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians or others, are all Indians, while retaining their distinct identities. The senior Congress leader and Ludhiana MP cautioned that there are some forces in the country which were still trying to impose the Manu Smiriti and have not been accepting the Constitution written by Dr B R Ambedkar that preaches equality and gives equal rights to everyone. Warring said that there was nothing wrong in people asserting and expressing their individual identities “as we may belong to different religions, observe different faiths, but above all we are humans and also Indians”. He also took a dig at the BJP and the Prime Minister saying that their only agenda was to stick to power by hook or by crook. “Earlier they polarized people and made them fight against each other and the moment they realized that this will not work any more, they have started vote theft”, he observed, while asserting, “as human beings and as Indians no force can divide us”.
