Preparations are underway for the November 12, 2025, strike called by the Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh 13 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Preparations are underway in various parts of Chandigarh for the strike being held on November 12, 2025, at the Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh. Gate meetings were held today at the Horticulture Department in Sector 38 and the Electricity Office in Sector 35. Prior to this, the CMC Horticulture Workers Union held an extended meeting of the union's executive in Sector 33, where preparations for the November 12 strike were discussed and a decision was made to fully participate in the strike.
The gate meetings were addressed by Federation President Rajendra Katoch, President Gopal Dutt Joshi, CMC Horticulture Union President and Federation General Secretary Harkesh Chand, Horticulture Union General Secretary M M Subrahmanyam, Treasurer Hardeep Singh, Federation Additional General Secretary and YouTube Unit President Amrik Singh, Vice President Gurmeet Singh, Federation Press Secretary Sukhwinder Singh and Public Health President Harpal Singh, former Federation President Naseeb Singh and ICC General Secretary Bihari Lal, etc., who appealed to demonstrate their unity by reaching in large numbers in the protest being held on 12 November 2025 to get the pending demands implemented. He said that on the one hand, the Federation and its affiliated unions are demanding the restoration of the old pension system, the regularization of all temporary employees who have completed 10 years, and the inclusion of all temporary employees under the equal pay for equal work until they are confirmed, the speedy filling of promotion posts by amending regulations, the cancellation of the privatization of government and semi-government departments, the cancellation of the decision to hand over parks and green belts managed by the Horticulture Department to societies, the cancellation of the ongoing layoffs of employees, the immediate allocation of expired tenders in the MC Engineering Department, the cancellation of the exploitation of employees by contractors, and the timely payment of salaries and bonuses and DA before Diwali. On the other hand, some forces, acting as puppets of the administration and anti-employee officials, are trying to break the unity of the employees and are engaged in illegal extortion from them. He appealed to employees to be wary of such misleading propaganda, to thwart the plans of anti-employee forces seeking to break employee unity, and to participate in large numbers in the strike being called by the Federation on November 12, 2025.
