Road accidents dip 5% globally, increase 15.3% in India in last 12 years : Dr Bhanu Partap Saluja
Chandigarh 16 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A team of Park Hospital Mohali, including Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh director orthopedics and robotic joint replacement surgery, Dr Rohit Jaswal CEO, Dr Anil Sofat consultant neurosurgery, Dr Ankur Sharma consultant plastic surgery, Dr Ashish Sharma consultant GI surgery and Dr Jaya Sharma consultant emergency medicine addressed a press conference here on rising cases of road accidents & trauma services in North India. Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh said,” Ironically the road accidents dip 5% globally, increasing 15.3% in India in the last 12 years. It contributes to 83% of all traffic-related deaths in India. There is an urgent need to spread awareness of the golden hour period, where the first 60 minutes are most important in saving lives after an accident. Dr Bhanu further said that Park Hospitals run North India’s biggest trauma program at Mohali, Patiala, Bhatinda, Ambala, Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Gurugram and Jaipur. The hospital’s trauma team consists of orthopedic surgeon, thoracic surgeon, GI surgeon, plastic surgeon, neurosurgeon, anesthetist and ER physician. All hospitals are fully equipped with OTs, in-house blood bank, and in-house CT/ MRI scan to deal with any kind of trauma injury.

6. Adopt anti-skid brake systems in the cars
7. Airbags in vehicles are a must.
8. Reflectors to be used on the rear of the vehicle.
9. Vehicle must be in good working condition
10. Roads should be in good condition with proper sign boards
11. Avoid drugs and alcohol while driving
