There is an urgent need to spread awareness of the golden hour period, where the first 60 minutes are most important in saving lives after an accident. Dr Bhanu further said that Park Hospitals run North India’s biggest trauma program at Mohali, Patiala, Bhatinda, Ambala, Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Gurugram and Jaipur. All hospitals are fully equipped with OTs, in-house blood bank, and in-house CT/ MRI scan to deal with any kind of trauma injury.

India accounts for just 1% of global vehicular population but the country has the highest number of accident-related deaths across the globe.” Dr Anil Sofat said that over speeding and not wearing seat belts are the major reasons behind fatal head injuries in trauma cases in India. In addition to these drunken driving, jumping red lights, distraction to drivers, non-adherence to driving lanes and overtaking from the wrong side are other reasons for road accidents in India, Dr Sogat informed.
