All India Shabad Singing Competition to be held at Prachin Kala Kendra under the banner of Gurmat Sangeet Society, registration begins

S.A.S.Nagar 1 December ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The 13th All India Shabad Singing Competition is being organized by Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandigarh and Gurmat Sangeet Society on December 12 and 13, 2025 at Gurdwara, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur, Sector 34, Chandigarh. In this competition, competitors aged 6 to 24 years will participate in various groups, junior and senior, coming from all over India. In the competition, the first cash prize of Rs. 31000/-, second cash prize of Rs. 21000/- and third cash prize of Rs. 11000/- will be given to the Shabad singing contestants of the senior group only. Certificates will also be given along with the first, second and third prizes in individual groups. More than One thousand contestants are expected to participate in this competition. The above information was given by Advocate Dr. Malkit Singh Jandiala, founder and current President of Gurmat Sangeet Society Chandigarh, while talking to journalists during a press conference organized at Mohali Press Club. During this, Gursevak Singh, who teaches music at the Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, was present with him. Dr. Malkit Singh Jandiala said that the main objective of the competition is to promote and preserve the true tradition of Gurmat Sangeet based on the ragas recorded in "Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji". He said that the last date for submitting forms for the competition has been set as December 11, 2025, but competitors coming from different states of the country will also be allowed to fill the form on the day of the competition. He said that the competition will be held from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, in which experts from the music world have been invited as judges. Dr. Malkit Singh Jandiala said that this 13th All India Shabad Singing Competition is being organized by Prachin Kala Kendra Chandigarh and Gurmat Sangeet Society. He said that if anyone wants to learn Gurmat singing and want to do a diploma, they can also contact the society.
