Large Peaceful Protest in Support of Community Dogs Outside Health Department in Chandigarh
Chandigarh 22 December ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A large peaceful protest was organised outside the Health Department in Chandigarh by animal welfare activists and concerned citizens to protect the rights of community dogs and to oppose alleged legal irregularities against them. All participants wore black clothes as a mark of protest against the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and the administration. The protesters held impactful placards highlighting injustice towards voiceless community animals, violations of Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, and the alleged disregard of directions issued by the Supreme Court and the Animal Welfare Board of India. The demonstrators stated that community dogs are mute beings who cannot raise their voice for their own rights.
The protest was led by Harsh, Upasana, Ramanpreet and Deeksha among others; They demanded that the administration immediately stop cruelty against community animals, halt the illegal lifting of dogs, and adopt humane, lawful solutions in accordance with existing laws. The protesters clarified that their movement was entirely peaceful and aimed only at promoting compassion, constitutional values, and strict adherence to the law.
