Chandigarh 7 December ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : : Renowned Sufi singer Kanwar Grewal dedicated his new song, titled "Seva - The Anthem," to the Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, and the Akal Academies, as well as to the entire Sikh community. During a press conference held at the Chandigarh Press Club today, Sufi singer Kanwar Grewal once again presented his new song to the audience. Through this song, he highlighted how Punjab stands strong with courage, bravery, and a spirit of service in every disaster and crisis. On this occasion, Kanwar Grewal openly praised the extensive relief and service work carried out by the Kalgidhar Trust and the Akal Academies during the Punjab floods, praising their humanitarian contributions. During the event, Kalgidhar Trust Vice President Bhai Jagjit Singh (Kaka Veer Ji), Dr. Davinder Singh, and volunteer Harmeet Singh announced that the organization has completed construction of 100 new houses for flood-affected families. The entire project was completed with complete transparency and with public donations. Giving information about the commendable programs of Kalgidhar Trust, Kanwar Grewal said that from August 26, 2025, large scale relief work was started in the flood affected areas under which 5500 people from 86 villages were evacuated safely through boats. Relief camps were set up in many areas by Akal Academies. Distribution of more than 15,000 ration kits, more than 4500 mattresses, blankets, quilts, folding beds and bedsheets, 3850 tarpaulins, 11,000 sanitary pads, 2 lakh water bottles, treatment of 5600 patients in 25 villages, treatment of about 500 animals in 7 villages, burial of 35 dead animals in 5 villages by JCB etc. along with animal fodder, 82 trolleys of straw, 25,000 quintals of fodder, 649 sacks of feed were distributed in about 50 villages. The Sufi singer explained that his latest song highlights the spiritual tradition of service through which Punjabis have always served humanity. Service is the greatest religion, and this song is designed to convey this message to society. With the construction of 100 new houses, Kalgidhar Trust confirmed that the rescue, relief and rehabilitation drive will continue to provide all possible assistance to the affected families to rebuild their lives.
