400 Blankets Distributed in City Markets as Part of Annual Donation Drive

Chandigarh 19 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Neighbourhood Development Association in collaboration with Society for Divine Reiki Meditation (NGO) launched Annual Blanket Donation Drive. With a mission to protect the homeless living in corridors of city markets from the bitter cold, around 400 Blankets were distributed in Sector 20 and 21. The drive was significantly supported by Vernini, a conscious made-to order fashion label, rooted in the belief that clothing should feel as thoughtful as it looks.

Rajiv Kataria, an eminent Social Worker lead the campaign. He stated that the initiative aimed to provide essential protection against freezing nights. The nights are cold & harsh and a simple blanket can bring warmth & dignity to the persons sleeping in open. Manjeet Singh Bakshi, Cashier of Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association Eastern Chapter urged the community to come together and help those who are most vulnerable during winters.

Shikha Nijhawan,  President Neighbourhood Development Association extended gratitude to Naresh Gautam,  Anirudh Kapoor, Anupam Khanna, Parveen Aggarwal, VM Bhalla, Maninder Singh, Susheel Gulati, Aman Ricky, Mohan Singh, Rajiv Gupta and others for coming forward to help such persons with their contributions. Jasjeet Suri, Vice Principal Chitkara School of Maritime Studies and Advocate Mehak Singh Secretary Society for Divine Reiki Meditation (NGO) jointly shared that main objective this drive is to bring warmth and hope to the homeless, street dwellers and underprivileged. They further stated that the individuals residing in the corridor of markets are exposed to extreme weather and a blanket can provide much needed relief. Jasjyot Singh, Founder President FASA,  Rudra Mahajan, Aneesh Kakirala, Vartika Wadhawan and Nitesh Mahajan supported the cause with their esteemed presence.
