AAP misleading the nation by projecting technical relief as clean chit : Tarun Chugh
Arvind Kejriwal remains Prima Facie accused in liquor scam : Chugh
Chandigarh 23 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that the narrative being pushed by the Aam Aadmi Party claiming that Arvind Kejriwal has been acquitted in the liquor scam is completely misleading and false. The relief granted today has nothing to do with the core investigation into the liquor policy scam, corruption, or money laundering. It pertains only to a technical complaint related to alleged non-compliance of ED summons, which is now being falsely projected as vindication.
Chugh added that the truth is that when the Enforcement Directorate repeatedly issued summons to Arvind Kejriwal during the liquor policy investigation, he deliberately avoided joining the probe. Due to this repeated non-appearance, the agency was compelled to file a complaint under Section 174 IPC before the Rouse Avenue Court. The case in which relief has been granted today is purely procedural in nature and has no connection whatsoever with the larger conspiracy or corruption involved in the liquor scam.
Tarun Chugh made it clear that Arvind Kejriwal continues to be an accused in the liquor scam and that the main investigations by ED and CBI are very much ongoing. Substantial documentary and digital evidence against him is already part of the court record. Seeking political mileage from a technical order does not erase the serious allegations or the evidence on record.
Chugh further stated that it is an established fact that the Hon’ble Supreme Court itself has observed that huge amounts of illegal money were generated in the liquor scam and that this tainted money was used by the Aam Aadmi Party in the Goa Assembly elections. Branding a technical relief as a clean chit is not only legally incorrect but also a dishonest political act. The law will take its course, evidence exists, and the guilty will be punished.
