Central University of Punjab Leads in THE Medicine World University Rankings 2026

CU Punjab secures Global Rank Band of 251–300 in Medicine and Health, 401–500 in Physical Sciences and 601-800 in Life Sciences in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

Bathinda 22 January ( PDL ) : The Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) has recorded a significant milestone by securing notable rank in the Medicine and Health category in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026. The University has been placed in the 251–300 global rank band in Medicine and Health, securing an exceptional Research Quality score of 85.2, amongst the assessed HEIs in this category. In the discipline-specific rankings of THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026, the University has also been placed in the 401–500 global rank band in Physical Sciences and the 601–800 rank band in Life Sciences. Overall, CU Punjab continues to maintain a global presence with an overall rank band of 601–800 in the THE World University Rankings 2026.

In Medicine and Health category, apart from CU Punjab, Saveetha Institute of Health Sciences, also figures in the global rank band of 251-300. This amply demonstrates CU Punjab’s growing impact in medical and health sciences teaching and research. In the Physical Sciences World University Rankings 2026, CU Punjab’s presence in the 401–500 band places it among a select group, with other seven Indian higher education institutions featuring in the top 500 globally. Similarly, in Life Sciences Rankings, the University’s 601–800 rank band positions it among the top 28 Indian institutions included within the top 800 worldwide. In this discipline, Banaras Hindu University and the Indian Institute of Science lead Indian institutions with a 201–250 global rank band.

Welcoming the rankings, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari said that CU Punjab’s consistent rise in research output and citation impact reflects the robustness and quality of its research ecosystem, which has been duly recognised by the highly reputed THE Rankings 2026. He added that this achievement is the collective outcome of the sustained efforts of the University’s faculty members, research scholars, students, stakeholders- a reiteration of its   commitment to excellence towards higher education and research. The inclusion of Central University of Punjab in Medicine and Health, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences in the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026, across leading global rank bands, stands as a testament to the University’s growing stature, research excellence, and its commitment to advancing quality higher education and impactful research on the global platform.
