CTU Outsourced Employees continued their Struggle for Reinstatement on the 45th Day Amidst Deteriorating Weather and Heavy Rains
Meeting with the Chandigarh Administrator, facilitated by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, offers a glimmer of hope : Balraj Dahiya
The Union Chairman also appealed to the Director of Transport and Senior BJP Leader Sanjay Tandon.
Chandigarh 23 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the occasion of Basant Panchami today in Chandigarh, the weather remained inclement throughout the day. Strong winds blew from the night onwards, accompanied by continuous rain. Despite this deteriorating weather, the struggle of the outsourced employees dismissed from CTU continued for the 45th day today.
Gurvinder Singh, Chairman of the CTU Contract Workers Union, had recently appealed to the Director of Transport, Pradyuman Singh, and Senior BJP Leader Sanjay Tandon, to take immediate notice of the issue of job reinstatement. Balraj Dahiya, President of the CTU Contract Workers Union, said that the meeting with the Chandigarh Administrator, Gulab Chand Kataria, under the banner of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, has given some hope to the outsourced employees who have been waiting for justice for almost 45 days. The CTU outsourced employees, despite the inclement weather and rain, maintained their morale while demanding justice.
Balraj Dahiya, President, and the Chairman of the CTU Contract Workers Union, thanked the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, its President Balwinder Singh, and Jaswant Singh of the CTU Union for bringing the issue of these poor employees to the attention of the administration. They also appealed to the Director of Transport, Pradyuman Singh, and Senior BJP Leader Sanjay Tandon, to ensure justice for the 300 dismissed outsourced employees and their families. The CTU Contract Workers Union, Transport Department, is demanding justice for 142 outsourced drivers who were taken off their routes after 85 buses on local routes completed 15 years of service, and for 158 terminated employees in support, bringing the total to 300 outsourced workers.
They are peaceful protesting the denial of duties to these drivers upon the arrival of new electric buses. Due to the storm and rain that continued throughout the night, the ground was wet and their tents were uprooted, forcing the protesting workers to take shelter in a trolley. The outsourced employees, who come from farming families, appealed to the government and administration today, on the occasion of Basant Panchami, for their reinstatement.
