Teachers' union Joint Action Committee of Teachers strongly protested against illegal admissions and harassment of teachers, demanded an FIR
Chandigarh 22 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Joint Action Committee of Teachers, UT Chandigarh (Registered) has registered a strong protest against a serious and alarming incident that took place on 20/1/2026 at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Khuda Alisher, Chandigarh.
On January 20, 2026, during working hours, two unknown/suspicious persons entered the school premises without any valid permission. They claimed to be working on behalf of the Finance Secretary, Chandigarh Administration and produced a copy of an alleged complaint letter and on the basis of the same, demanded verification of the official documents of the school. The said persons neither produced any authorization letter nor any identity card nor any written permission from the Education Department/any competent authority.
He entered a restricted government workplace without authorization. In the name of the Finance Secretary, he interrogated the guest/contract teachers and mentally harassed the women teachers in particular, creating an atmosphere of fear and pressure there. This incident affected the academic environment of the school and the teachers had to face unnecessary mental stress. The Joint Action Committee of Teachers believes that this act amounts to impersonation, criminal intimidation and abuse of authority and poses a serious threat to the safety, dignity and morale of teachers, especially women teachers.
In this regard, the Joint Action Committee of Teachers, UT Chandigarh has demanded from the Administrator, Chandigarh that an FIR be registered against both the unknown/suspected persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. A thorough investigation should be conducted into their identity, intentions and the source of the alleged complaint. Strict legal action should be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents in school premises in future. The teachers' union has appealed to the administration to ensure the safety of teachers and take swift and strict action against the culprits.
