Chandigarh 14 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Nine couples took each other's hands in Chandigarh city on Wednesday and took seven rounds of fire and vowed to stay together for seven lives. The citizens became the wedding party and blessed the couples. The mass marriage was organized by Bhartiya Vikas Parishad East 1 in the community center of Sector-18. BJP's Himachal co-incharge and former president of Chandigarh BJP unit Sanjay Tandon specially attended the ceremony and blessed the newlyweds. He said that BVP East 1 is doing inspiring work. Neelam Gupta presided over the program. Bhushan Thakur also reached to give blessings. Bhartiya Vikas Parishad gifted the married couple household items including kitchen utensils, cupboard, sewing machine etc.
Organization officials explained that many girls from poor families are unable to have grand weddings due to financial constraints. The Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) takes on the responsibility of marrying such girls and arranges their weddings with the best wishes for a happy future. Present on the occasion were Bhavip President Neelam Gupta, Secretary Sanjay Singla, and Treasurer
Promila Grover, Sumita Kohli, Manmohan Jolly, Amita Mittal, along with Suman Gupta, Ritu Agarwal, and other members played key roles. Hundreds of dignitaries and city residents attended the procession.
