MP Manish Tewari Visits Flood-Affected Areas Near Patiala Ki Rao, Reviews Situation
Chandigarh 7 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Chandigarh MP and former Union Minister Manish Tewari visited the flood-affected villages of Daddumajra and Dhanas caused by overflowing waters of Patiala Ki Rao. Local residents and Congress workers also accompanied him during the visit. Taking to X, the MP urged the district administration to carry out proper dredging of Patiala Ki Rao, stressing that the recent floods have caused severe damage to standing crops. He called for immediate relief measures to support the affected villagers. Tewari emphasized that if Patiala Ki Rao is cleaned, its embankments strengthened, and other necessary improvements carried out, it could not only resolve existing problems but also be developed into a potential waterfront project. He further stated that recommendations have been made for road construction from Dhanas Bridge to Toga Bridge and elevating the existing bridge. Additionally, he highlighted the need to clean the marshy areas caused by water leakage from the Daddumajra dumping ground. According to him, if the Chandigarh Administration and the Municipal Corporation work together, this could become a significant development project.
