Chugh demands NIA probe into Gurdaspur policemen’s killing

Chugh demands NIA probe into Gurdaspur policemen’s killing Asks CM Mann to resign as Home Minister Chandigarh 23 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Expressing deep sorrow over the brutal killing of two Punjab Police personnel at a border post in Gurdaspur district, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said the sacrifice of the brave officers will not go in vain and the nation stands firmly with their bereaved families. He described the incident as deeply disturbing and a direct assault on the security framework of a sensitive border state. Given the proximity of the police post to the Indo-Pak international border and the emerging indications of possible cross-border involvement, Chugh demanded an immediate probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He said the matter is far too serious to be left to a routine state-level investigation and requires a comprehensive national security inquiry to uncover any larger conspiracy. Paras Health Panchkula Performs High-Risk Surgery to Treat Rare and Aggressive Thyroid Cancer in Elderly Patient

Panchkula 23 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In a remarkable display of clinical precision and coordinated teamwork, Paras Health Panchkula successfully treated an elderly woman diagnosed with one of the rarest and most aggressive forms of thyroid cancer. The patient’s life was saved following a highly complex, multi-disciplinary surgical intervention led by Dr Rajan Sahu, Associate Director – Surgical Oncology. The patient was brought to the hospital with a rapidly enlarging swelling in the neck that had already spread to critical airway structures, including the voice box and windpipe. Her breathing became increasingly compromised, and during her hospital stay, she suddenly experienced severe oxygen desaturation. She was immediately shifted to the Intensive Care Unit, where emergency intubation was required to stabilise her condition.

Managing her airway was extremely challenging due to tumour involvement. Dr Ashwini performed a difficult and timely intubation, preventing further respiratory deterioration and buying crucial time for the medical team. After detailed evaluation and careful planning, the surgical oncology team undertook an intricate procedure that involved complete removal of the thyroid gland, removal of the affected larynx, and resection of the involved segment of the trachea. A permanent tracheostomy was created to secure her airway and ensure safe breathing post-surgery.

The surgery was led by Dr Rajan Sahu, who worked in close coordination with the anaesthesiology, critical care, and reconstructive teams. Post-operatively, the patient was closely monitored in the ICU under the supervision of Dr. Ashish and his team, ensuring stability during the critical recovery phase. To restore structural support and promote proper healing, reconstructive flap surgery was performed by Dr Sourav. This step was crucial in ensuring both functional stability and long-term recovery. The final biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma, a rare and highly aggressive cancer known for its rapid progression and high risk of airway obstruction. Such cases often present late and demand immediate, decisive intervention.

Speaking about the case, Dr Rajan Sahu said, “Anaplastic thyroid cancer progresses very rapidly and often compromises vital airway structures. In this patient, the tumor had significantly invaded the voice box and windpipe, making both airway management and surgery extremely challenging. What made the difference was timely ICU intervention, meticulous surgical planning, and seamless coordination across specialties. Every minute mattered, and the team responded with precision and urgency.”

This case highlights Paras Health Panchkula’s capability in handling complex oncological emergencies, especially those involving life-threatening airway compromise. More importantly, it reflects the power of teamwork in critical care settings, where surgical expertise, intensive care support, and reconstructive planning come together to save lives. Paras Health Panchkula continues to strengthen its commitment to delivering advanced, compassionate, and patient-centric cancer care, ensuring that even the most challenging cases are met with expertise and hope.
