Attack on Gurus and Sant tradition reflects AAP’s cheap politics : Tarun Chugh
Insult to Dera Beas and Baba Gurinder Singh is a direct attack on Sant tradition : Chugh
Chandigarh 4 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh levelled serious allegations against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal for hurting Sikh and Punjabi sentiments. Chugh said the power-intoxicated Kejriwal-Mann leadership is repeatedly insulting religious traditions, saints and spiritual institutions, which amounts to a direct attack on Punjab’s social harmony and religious heritage.
Chugh said Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon and Radha Soami Dera Beas have dedicated themselves to selfless service to humanity for decades. He said Dera Beas, which commands faith among millions of followers across India and abroad, set an unparalleled example of service and compassion during the Covid pandemic. He further said Dera Beas also played a leading role in providing relief during the devastating floods in Punjab by supplying food, clean drinking water, medicines and other essential facilities to affected families. Chugh said that when people in Delhi were losing their lives due to the grave mismanagement of the Kejriwal government, Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon and Dera Beas stepped forward to serve humanity. He added that Dera Beas has also been continuously working towards de-addiction campaigns and helping millions overcome substance abuse and reintegrate into mainstream society.
Chugh said Sikh Maryada represents the core spiritual foundation of the Sikh faith and matters related to Golak and other religious traditions are deeply associated with reverence, transparency and sanctity. He said making political jibes on such highly sensitive religious matters is a grave insult to Sikh traditions. Chugh said such irresponsible and insensitive remarks are unacceptable from a constitutional authority like Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, as they hurt religious sentiments and disturb social harmony.
Chugh said this is not the first time AAP leaders have hurt religious sentiments. He said Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann conspired to shield former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi when she made objectionable remarks about Sikh Gurus on the floor of the Delhi Assembly. Chugh said such a mindset will never be accepted in the land of the Gurus, Punjab. Chugh said the people of Punjab are already frustrated with the failures of the Mann government, deteriorating law and order and economic decline. He said the insult to saints and religious sentiments has further intensified public anger and the people of Punjab will give a befitting reply in 2027.
