Cycle Rally Organised in Panchkula under Saksham 2025–26
“Conserve Oil & Gas, Go Green”
Panchkula 8 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : With the objective of spreading public awareness about the growing need for conservation of petroleum products, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are organising Saksham 2025–26 (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav) from February 1 to February 15, 2026. As part of this initiative, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) organised a cycle rally today at Sector-5, Panchkula. The rally was flagged off in the morning from behind Cactus Park by Rohit Kaul, Deputy General Manager (HPCL), Arvind Kumar, Deputy General Manager (HPCL) and Trupti Ranjan Sahu, Deputy General Manager (HPCL). Prior to the rally, participants were administered an oath highlighting the urgent need for conservation of petroleum products.
Around 150 school children enthusiastically participated in the rally, spreading the message of fuel conservation among the general public. The local cycling club also extended its support to the event.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, through the erstwhile Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and oil public sector undertakings, has been organising the Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF) across the country every year since 1991. Carrying forward this legacy, Oil Marketing Companies continue to encourage citizens to actively participate in the noble cause of conserving fuel and protecting the environment.
Under the ‘Saksham’ campaign, various activities such as walkathons, TV and radio talks, debates, group discussions, graffiti, and wall painting competitions in schools and colleges will be organised to educate people about the importance of conserving natural resources for a better and sustainable environment.
The tagline of Saksham 2025–26 is:
“तेल और गैस बचाओ, हरित ऊर्जा अपनाओ”
“Conserve Oil & Gas, Go Green”
Speaking on the occasion, senior officials of HPCL emphasised the need to conserve valuable natural resources and motivated participants to not only adopt fuel-saving practices themselves but also spread the message within their families, institutions and society. They also thanked the dignitaries for sparing their valuable time to grace the event.
