India-US deal is a historic agreement in the interest of farmers and the people of the country : Piyush Goyal
Chandigarh 9 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Prime Minister Narendra Modi government, while addressing a virtual meeting with the senior BJP leadership of Punjab and Haryana, said that there is a fundamental difference in the thinking of the Congress and the BJP (NDA) government.
He said that the Congress governments never took concrete and far-sighted steps for the farmers. Neither was the export of agricultural products promoted, nor were any strong policies formulated to empower the agricultural sector. Congress remained limited only to vote bank politics.
Piyush Goyal emphasized that the BJP government's approach has always been pro-farmer. The India-US deal will significantly increase the export of rice, including Basmati, and other agricultural products, which will directly benefit the farmers of the country and create new opportunities in the agricultural sector. He said that the India-US deal is a historic agreement in the interest of farmers and the people of the country. This deal is a victory for India and will prove instrumental in taking the country's economy to new heights.
BJP Punjab State Press Secretary Hardev Singh Ubha, while giving information about the meeting, said that the virtual meeting was also attended by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, and senior BJP state-level leadership from Punjab and Haryana.
