Warring cautions against pushing Punjab towards bankruptcy
Warns against AAP creating huge liabilities for next government
Chandigarh 25 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today warned against the state being pushed towards bankruptcy by the Aam Aadmi Party government and creating huge financial liabilities for the next government which will be formed in early 2027. Reacting to the reported proposals of the state government with huge financial implications without any credible source, Warring warned that the AAP government, which knew that it was in the last year of its term and had no chance to return, was leaving Punjab in a financial mess for its successor government.
The PCC president noted that the AAP was trying to repeat its earlier formula of promising without any intention. He said, the way it promised to pay Rs 1000 to every woman in the state, but did not pay till now, it was now proposing other such schemes with huge financial liabilities.
He said, the state does not have enough money even to pay the interest on pending loans, from where will the government get money to finance its news schemes, which are clearly aimed at the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.Warring asked the government to spell out the source of funds before announcing any such scheme. “State’s debt has already crossed Rs four lakh crores and we do not want the state to be drowned any further and we will not allow that”, he warned, while adding, “the AAP apparently believes that it has nothing to lose at this stage since it is resigned to its fate having realized that it stand no chance to return”.
