Chandigarh -Punjab Union of Journalists organises it's 25th Annual Meeting and Silver Jubilee , journalists from 21 states participated
Chandigarh 18 November ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The 25th State Annual Meeting as well as it's Silver Jubilee Function of the Chandigarh -Punjab Union of Journalists was held today at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration ( MGSIPA) in Chandigarh. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema was the chief guest on this occasion. Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema welcomed the journalists from different states. He said that journalists work hard day and night to strengthen the country. He said that sometimes the pen of journalists moves hearts and sometimes governments are also moved. The respect and dignity of journalists is most important for us. He said that the feedback received from journalists is realistic. He said that journalists play an important role in the politics of the country or society, in any class. Journalists are constantly engaged in social service and publicizing the problems of the people day and night. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced a financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to the union. A souvenir of the union was also released on this occasion. Chandigarh's Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, she praised the journalists and said that in today's era, the work of journalists has become even more challenging and their responsibility has increased. She appreciated the working style of the journalists and congratulated the union on its silver jubilee. Earlier, CPUJ President Vinod Kohli mentioned the achievements and struggles of the union. He said that CPUJ raises its voice in their favor not only at the state level but also at the national level. He said that the representatives of the union have also participated in the UNESCO workshop held in Bangalore recently. During this, the children of Prachin Kala Kendra presented Vande Mataram. At the end of the function, the journalists who came from different states were honored with mementos. On this occasion, among others, former Mayor Arun Sood was also present.
