Livasa Hospital Nawanshahr starts weekly Oncology OPD
Nawanshahr 27 February ( PDL ) : Reinforcing its commitment to accessible, community-focused cancer care, Livasa Hospitals has launched a Weekly Oncology OPD at Livasa Hospital, Nawanshahr, led by senior oncology experts from Livasa Hospital Mohali. The initiative was formally announced during a press conference held at Livasa Hospital, Nawanshahr, marking a significant step toward bringing specialized cancer consultation, early detection, and preventive guidance closer to communities in and around Nawanshahr.
As part of the launch, a free oncology consultation camp was organised on the inaugural day to encourage early screening, spread awareness about cancer warning signs, and enable timely medical guidance. The oncology OPD will now be available every Tuesday from 11am-3pm at Livasa Hospital, Nawanshahr, ensuring that patients no longer need to travel far for expert oncology consultations.
Dr. Jatin Sarin, director-medical oncology, Dr. Meenakshi Mittal director-radiation oncology and Dr. Vijay Bansal director-surgical oncology will be available for OPD. Dr. Jatin Sarin emphasized that symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, persistent fatigue, lumps or swelling, abnormal bleeding, blood in stool or urine, and non-healing wounds must not be ignored, as early detection significantly improves survival and treatment success.
Dr. Meenakshi Mittal highlighted that while modern oncology offers highly advanced and precise treatment options, outcomes are best when cancers are diagnosed early, making regular check-ups and awareness crucial. Dr. Vijay Bansal added that surgery, when performed at the right stage, can be curative in many cancers, and bringing a multidisciplinary oncology team closer to Nawanshahr reduces delays and ensures timely intervention.
Additionally, Livasa Hospitals follows a structured multidisciplinary Tumour Board approach, where oncology specialists collaboratively review each case to design the most effective and personalised treatment plan for every patient. Anurag Yadava, CEO-Livasa Hospitals, stated that cancer care should not depend on geography and that this Oncology OPD reflects the hospital’s commitment to decentralising specialised services while promoting prevention and early diagnosis.
