Chandigarh 01 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today described HS Phoolka joining the BJP as “symbiotic opportunism” of both, which will not have any impact on Punjab beyond the day’s headlines.
“This also reflects on the extreme desperation of the BJP to induct people from outside to contest elections in Punjab”, Warring said in a statement here today. A party that aspires to form the government on its own definitely does not depend exclusively on outsiders alone as the BJP does, he observed.
The PCC pointed out that almost the entire top leadership in Punjab BJP is from outside. “Their state president Sunil Jakhar is from the Congress and so are Capt Amarinder Singh, Ms Praneet Kaur, Manpreet Badal, Kewal Dhillon, Rana Sodhi just to name a few”, he said, while asking, “where are the traditional BJP leaders in the party in Punjab?”
Referring to Phoolka, Warring said he did not want to dig into his past statements about the BJP, but these are too fresh in public memory. He noted when Phoolka joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2014, he made almost similar remarks, as he made today when he joined the BJP. The PCC president also referred to the massive losses to the standing wheat crop due to unseasonal rains and strong winds. He demanded an immediate time bound survey of the damage and immediate compensation to the affected farmers.
