He also demanded Rs 50 crore to Rs 70 crores annual research grant for the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to improve the research facilities for better agriculture. The Ludhiana MP made a strong case for providing debt relief to the small and marginal farmers through one time settlement by waiving off their interests. During these nine days, people observe fasts and are also cautious about their eating habits. In keeping with this, hotels and restaurants have introduced special Navratri Thali. People are loving the Sabudana Khichdi. Navratri is a nine-day fast. Salt and grains are not consumed during these days. Consequently, Navratri-special Thalis have appeared in the market. Various restaurants have also prepared special Thalis and snacks for the auspicious occasion of Navratri. The special Thali from Gopal, renowned for its food and sweets, is also quite appealing.
Restaurant Director Bhavana stated that a special 'Vrat Thali' has been prepared for fasting people, containing items appropriate to the fast. Complete care will be taken in preparing and serving the Navratri Thali. Separate arrangements will be made for fasting customers at the outlet. Various types of chaat are being prepared for savory dishes and various sweets are being prepared for sweet dishes.
She informed that the Navratri special thali includes two buckwheat flour puris, raita, potato cumin, curd raita, samak rice, sago kheer, and pumpkin vegetable. This diet is sufficient for a fasting person. She further informed that several other items have been prepared for those who want to eat light food. These include paneer tikka made from buckwheat flour, sago khichdi, fasting curd bhalla, puri-vegetable, samak rice and curd gravy, sago tikki, milk, almond pistachio milk, cold coffee, tea, kalakand, cashew burfi, fig burfi, khoya burfi, fruitarian Panchratna mix, and potato chips. Sabudana khichdi is the most preferred.
