Social Worker Seeks Protection from Chief Minister, Alleges Nexus Between Punjab Police and Politicians
Social worker forced to spend two months behind bars without any fault
Victim woman Kuldeep Kaur Hardeep Singh also suffering due to false police cases
Chandigarh 19 November ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Gursevak Singh Antal, a social worker and chief volunteer of NGO Ekam from Ghanaur, has appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister for protection, alleging that a political leader and a Punjab Police SHO have conspired to trap him in two false cases. Addressing the media at Chandigarh Press Club today, Antal shared his ordeal and said he fears a serious threat to his life due to the strong influence these individuals wield in the area. Antal said that although the Punjab and Haryana High Court has constituted an SIT to investigate the matter and the Punjab Police has taken departmental action by sending the concerned SHO to lines, the situation on the ground remains unsafe for him. According to him, despite official action, the political–police nexus continues to intimidate him. He claimed that the FIR registered on September 6 at Police Station Shambhu, District Patiala — FIR No. 98/6925 under Sections 109, 304, 3(5), 25 — is completely fabricated and unrelated to reality, as he was not even present in the area at the time of the alleged incident. He stated that he was wrongfully cornered on the road and implicated as part of a planned conspiracy. After approaching several senior police officials for protection, Antal has now knocked on the doors of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office, seeking justice and immediate security for his life.
