He also demanded Rs 50 crore to Rs 70 crores annual research grant for the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to improve the research facilities for better agriculture. Patiala 15 December ( PDL ) : The Patiala Music Festival, organised by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), concluded on a grand and dignified note at the Kalidas Auditorium. The closing evening enthralled music lovers with a mesmerising joint performance by world-renowned santoor maestro Pt. Abhay Rustum Sopori and the Banaras gharana vocalists, the Kashyap Brothers—Pt. Prabhakar Kashyap and Pt. Diwakar Kashyap.
Pt. Abhay Sopori enchanted the audience with the spiritual resonance of his santoor, while the soulful and expressive vocal renditions by the Kashyap Brothers lent completeness and depth to the performance. The accompaniment by Pt. Sanju Sahai on tabla and Rishi Shankar Upadhyay on pakhawaj further enhanced the richness and impact of the concert. The auditorium echoed with prolonged applause at the conclusion of the programme.
Held annually under the leadership of NZCC Chairman Furqan Khan, the festival has emerged as a cultural hallmark of Patiala and continues to play a vital role in the preservation and revival of classical music in Punjab. The grand finale once again reaffirmed Patiala’s enduring legacy as a strong and vibrant centre of Indian classical music.
