PCS Exam 2025: Only 8 Punjabi Questions — Misl Sutlej registered strong protest

Chandigarh 16 December ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The youth wing of Misl Satluj, a prominent socio-political organisation, has raised the issue of reducing Punjabi and Punjab-specific content/questions in the Punjab PCS prelims examination that was conducted on December 7, 2025. The organisation held a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club and demanded a meeting with the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) chairman.

Yadwinder Singh Yadu Alal, youth leader of Misl Satluj, also submitted a memorandum to the PPSC chairman in Patiala on December 10 on the issue. He said, “PPSC started the recruitment process through Advt. No. 20251 and held the examination on Dec 7, 2025. In this prelims examination, Punjabi has been knowingly reduced, which is unfair to the rural students from Punjab.”

He further shared that this time the CSAT exam had only 8 Punjabi questions which were at least 15-20 or even 23 earlier. He said that the CSAT exam has reduced Punjabi and focussed on Math which penalizes rural students and those without strong math backgrounds.

In the General Studies (GS) paper, only 3 questions were based on Punjab. The first paper neglected Punjabi history, geography, economy, the Sikh Gurus, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh which reduced Punjab’s relevance in its own state exam. It happened despite the PPSC chairman issuing a letter that the paper will be focussed on Punjabi history, culture, geography and economics. President, Misl Satluj, Ajaypal Singh Brar said that the exam is to select officers for Punjab, it should have focussed on Punjabi language, Punjabi history and philosophy but the exam has been discriminatory towards Punjabi students.

Yadu said that the competitive exams are supposed to build confidence among students, not to break their convictions. He further demanded that either the CSAT qualifying marks be lowered to 33% or the students be given grace marks. He demanded action to be taken soon so that this discrimination against Punjabis, especially rural Punjabis be ended.

He shared that this time, the number of posts are more and the recruitment has started after 4 years. If the Punjabi youth do not get jobs through this recruitment process, they will not get another chance and students from other states will get jobs in Punjab.

Amrinder Singh Tur, Sukhwinder Singh (youth president Malwa Zone), Maan Singh Killi (youth president, Ferozepur), Harjeet Singh Khizrabad, Randhir Singh Dhira (Youth president, Mohali), Jujhar Singh (youth president, Kharar), and Tejwinder Singh (youth president, Doaba) were present among other senior leaders of Misl Satluj.
