AAP Govt Seeped in Corruption : Chugh
Arrests of DIG Bhullar and Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh expose rampant corruption in Bhagwant Mann govt : Tarun Chugh
Amritsar/Chandigarh 27 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday met the family of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, who died by suicide, and demanded strict action against those responsible for the circumstances leading to his death. Expressing condolences, Chugh alleged a serious breakdown of law and order in Punjab and accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of patronising corruption and coercion. He said that “gangism, extortion and an organised system of illegal collections” were thriving under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.
Chugh further alleged that the deceased had been subjected to harassment and pressure by individuals in positions of power. He said that a minister allegedly called an officer to his residence, assaulted him, forced him to record a video under pressure, and threatened to destroy his life. Such coercion, he said, ultimately drove the officer to take the extreme step. Tarun Chugh criticised the Punjab Police for its handling of the case, alleging that no murder case had been registered despite serious allegations. He said that the accused were moving freely and that the police had failed to take timely action.
He further added that when one of the accused was finally apprehended, he was presented in court as if it were a victory procession. “This is extremely unfortunate and raises serious questions on governance,” he said. Chugh demanded that a murder case be registered, all accused be arrested immediately, and a fair probe be conducted under judicial supervision. He assured the bereaved family of full support from the BJP in their pursuit of justice. The state government has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
