He also demanded Rs 50 crore to Rs 70 crores annual research grant for the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to improve the research facilities for better agriculture. The Ludhiana MP made a strong case for providing debt relief to the small and marginal farmers through one time settlement by waiving off their interests. Administrator Flags Off 1st Chandigarh International Marathon 2026

Chandigarh 1 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration, successfully organized the 1st Chandigarh International Marathon 2026 in the City Beautiful, witnessing participation of approximately 3,500 runners from India and abroad, marking a historic milestone in Chandigarh’s sporting calendar.

The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, along with his wife Smt. Anita Kataria, today flagged off the 1st Chandigarh Marathon 2026 at Chandigarh Club, Sector-1, and participated in the 5 km category. The marathon featured four competitive categories: 42 km (Full Marathon), 21 km (Half Marathon), 10 km, and 5 km. A total of 323 participants competed in the 42 km, 740 in the 21 km, 1270 in the 10 km, and 1168 in the 5 km category. The event also saw 38 international participants from eight countries and 21 specially-abled participants, making it a truly inclusive and global sporting event.
The Administrator later graced the prize distribution ceremony and appreciated the efforts of the Sports Department and stakeholders for successfully organizing the mega event. He emphasized promoting fitness, discipline, unity, and a healthy lifestyle among citizens.
