Blind Chess Players Outmanoeuvre the Sighted TaskUs Team in a Friendly Inclusive Event

Chandigarh 28 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The National Association for the Blind (NAB), Chandigarh, in collaboration with TaskUs, successfully hosted a unique Inclusive Chess Event. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 10 visually impaired players from NAB competing against 10 sighted players from the TaskUs team in a remarkable display of strategy, focus, and determination. In an impressive outcome, the team of visually impaired chess players outmanoeuvred their sighted counterparts in this engaging and closely contested encounter.

This special initiative brought visually impaired and sighted players together on a common platform, promoting inclusivity and celebrating the exceptional capabilities of persons with visual impairment. The event stood as a powerful reminder that talent and intellect transcend physical limitations. The primary objective of the event was to raise awareness about the abilities of visually impaired individuals and to encourage their participation in intellectual sports. Chess emerged as a truly inclusive game, where visually impaired players can compete on equal footing with sighted players without any disadvantage. The only adaptation required was the use of specially designed tactile chess boards, enabling accessibility and independence.
TaskUs has been a valued partner in supporting NAB’s initiatives, including free eye check-up camps, eye care services, and rehabilitation programs benefiting persons with visual impairment across Chandigarh and Mohali. The organization has also generously contributed towards the infrastructure development and furnishing of NAB’s new Institute in Majri Block, Mohali.
Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Chadha, President, NAB Chandigarh & Punjab Branch, said: "This partnership reflects our shared commitment to building an inclusive society where persons with disabilities are provided equal opportunities to participate and excel. We express our sincere gratitude to TaskUs for their continued support towards our mission for the welfare of the visually impaired community." The event also featured a captivating musical performance by a band of visually impaired artists, adding a vibrant cultural dimension and making the program both inspiring and memorable.
